FAMILY GROUPS

We were not made to live solitary, lonely lives. We were made for community. Refuge Family Groups are where we live out our identity as daughters and sons in the family of God. Family Groups are small groups of people that gather regularly to eat, pray, serve, and study God’s Word together. Click the button below to join a Family Group near you.

BAPTISM

  • As a sacrament of the church, baptism is an outward, physical symbol of an inward, spiritual reality. Baptism is a sign and seal of entrance into the new covenant through faith in Jesus. It is a special means of grace for the candidate and a celebratory occasion for the family of God. Just as Christ was buried and rose again, when we are baptized, we are lowered into the water (picturing the death and burial of our old selves) and raised up again (picturing our new life in Christ).

  • If someone has made a genuine profession of faith, then he or she ought to be baptized (Matthew 28:18-19). We encourage you to follow Christ’s command to be baptized as a public profession of your faith. We would love to walk with you as you consider this opportunity to announce the change that has taken place in your life, and proclaim that Jesus paid the penalty for your sins.

  • Baptism Sundays happen every so often at Refuge Church during the Sunday services. Several weeks before, we will have a Baptism Class, where those interested have the opportunity to meet with a pastor to talk through baptism. This class does not obligate you to be baptized but allows you to explore and learn the meaning of this sacred symbol. Click the button below, if you would like to be baptized or learn more.

MEMBERSHIP

Meaningful membership is our way of embracing a slower, more committed way of life. We don't only commit to a statement of faith or an idea of church; we commit to an actual group of people in actual communities. As such, membership at Refuge Church is your commitment to the Refuge family, and a commitment from the Refuge family to you.

  • The first step to becoming a member at Refuge Church, or simply learning more about what we believe, is to attend one of our membership classes. We have these on select Sundays throughout the year after the second Sunday service. Regardless of whether you'll become a member, this is a great time to learn more about Refuge's vision, mission, and values, as well as for you to ask any questions you may have about the church. Lunch and childcare are provided. Click the button below to sign up for our next class.

  • If you would like to become a member after attending the membership class, you will turn in your Membership Covenant. If you haven't already at this point, you should start investing in the life of the church through attending Sunday services and a Family Group, serving on a Refuge Team, and giving financially.

  • Once you have turned in your Membership Covenant, you'll be invited to meet with an elder for a Membership Interview. Don’t be intimidated by this! This is simply a time for us to get to know your story more personally and answer any questions you may have about Refuge. Your Membership Interviewer will help you take any next steps to finalize your membership.
