God Has a Special Concern for the Marginalized

Mixtape: A Summer Series on the Psalms

Psalm 146. What we do for others often depends on what they can do for us. “It cannot be denied that too often the weight of the Christian movement has been on the side of the strong and the powerful and against the weak and oppressed—this despite the gospel." Howard Thurman, Jesus and the Disinherited, pg. 20. God shows a special concern for the marginalized.

Psalms was the songbook of God’s people; it would be like a playlist now or a mixtape. It’s the reason so many of our worship songs today come from the Psalms. But these aren’t just good songs. These are rich theology, too! They lay out a bunch of essential truths or us. It's what drove Augustine to exclaim: "What is there that may not be learned in the Psalms."
