Physician, Heal Yourself
We want Jesus to act like we do, to condone our actions… We want him to perform for us, do what we ask for, act on what we pray about the way that we want him to… We want him to say what we want him to say…mostly talk about his love…and conveniently sidestep those parts of his Word that don’t fit our cultural current… We make Jesus in our own image. But Jesus tells us exactly who he is and what he’s come to do. He is the Messiah, and he has come to preach good news to ALL people and ultimately to renew the earth such that the poor, the blind, the captive, and oppressed are liberated!
