I could not be more excited about starting True North Community Church in Atlanta.  I have never been more convinced of the vision God has birthed within me for our church to transform our city with the gospel, yet at the same time, I have never felt so utterly helpless and painfully aware of my inability to make it happen.  But God in his goodness and mercy has brought about this realization “to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead” (2 Corinthians 1:9).

The painful reality is that no matter how hard I work, how much I strategize, how many people we have on our team, and if our heart’s are hemorrhaging inside because of how broken we are for the people of our city, without the Lord our labor is in vain.  For, we cannot make people believe the gospel and find life in the arms of Jesus, we cannot heal people’s crushing hurts, and we cannot make people stop running to things that are spiritually and physically destroying them.  This is the work of God alone.  All we can do is point them to Jesus and cry out to God to open the flood gates of his thirst-quenching, soul-satisfying, resurrecting grace! 

We are utterly dependent upon God to turn the lifeless ashes of their lives as well as our lives into beautiful life in Jesus.

We read in Colossians 4:2 Paul encouraging his church family to “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”

Because of the empowering grace of God we at True North are desperately:

  • Praying continually and steadfastly for God’s provision.
  • Praying watchfully, eagerly expecting the Lord to not only answer our prayers but to “do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
  • Praying with thanksgiving, praising and worshiping God for his past and future faithfulness.

We are learning really quickly that what we are doing (starting True North Church) is not just difficult – it is impossible.  Yet, what is impossible with man is a cakewalk for God! 

With that being said, will you commit to praying for True North Church?  Will you pray that God continues to provide team members?  Will you pray that we would share not only the gospel but our lives with others?  Will you pray for salvations and for people to grow in their love for Jesus?  Will you pray for favor with community leaders, organizations, and schools?  Will you pray for our leaders?  Will you pray that God continues to provide financial partners so that we can do the work of the ministry?  Lastly, will you join us in thanking and praising God for his past faithfulness and for his future provision?
